nba-1 Starting To Warm UpThose of you who have followed the Sounding Board in the past know that we have been down on the NBA for a long time now. At least since his Airness finally decided to hang em up. In my own case, I have been a much bigger fan of college hoop in recent years.

But I have to admit, these last couple of nights I have found myself actually pausing and staying for some time watching some of the NBA games that have been played.

I am not sure what it is, but I actually found myself thinking seriously about trying out an NBA fantasy league this year for the first time. Now, I have to admit, part of that thinking has to do with filling the fantasy void that exists between the end of football season and the beginning of baseball. And even though I did not commit the $100 to play, I came as close as I ever have to doing so.

I cannot put my finger on why my interest level has gone up some. Has the style of game changed to be more appealing in the last few years. Not that I have noticed. Has the image of a glorified “inner-city playground league” softened some. Perhaps.

One theory I have personally is that I have watched so much college hoop the last several years that I identify more with the players that are in the league now. But that theory gets shot down by the fact that the top college stars are typically one and done these days.

Can’t say that I am able to put my finger on it. I cannot in good conscience declare myself a full-fledged fan again like I was in the 80’s and 90’s but maybe we are starting to warm to it once again.

Let me know what you guys think!
